Wine trips
We have prepared for you several interesting wine-related trips. You can choose your own tempo. Food and wine tasting are part of these trips, but everything can be adapted to your needs and wishes. These trips may be arranged for one person or more.
Prague vineyards tour
A little more challenging is an unguided tour which will take you to see nearly all current vineyards within the territory of Prague. First you will see a very interesting project right below the Prague Castle, called Svatováclavská vinice (Saint Wenceslas Vineyard) with nearly all grape varieties planted in the Czech Republic. You cannot miss this fabulous vineyard because Saint Wenceslas is the patron of our winemakers. From the Prague Castle you’ll be taken to Troja to see the Svatá Klára vineyard where you can taste some local wines. Subsequently you will continue to the centre of Prague – to a part called Vinohrady (The Vineyards). Even the name of this borough reminds us of the famous wine history of Prague. Here, in a beautifully reconstructed pavilion of the Grébovka vineyard you can taste some local wines.

Wine trips outside Prague
Wine growing and wine making has a long tradition in Prague and around, although the region lies in a rather cool climate range. It was Charles IV., the great emperor and king of the Czech kingdom, who brought the influence of Burgundy to this region. He brought not only vines of Burgundian varieties, but also experienced winemakers and vineyard managers from France. His great legacy has inspired us in picking the name for our hotel.
The centre of wine making in this region is the town of Mělník, where you will visit the Chateau of the Lobkowicz family and a beautiful local wine shop. Here you can taste the production of local vintners and subsequently leave to nearby village of Žernoseky, where you will meet one of the legendary wine makers of the Czech Republic – František Kupsa. The Žernosecké vinařství is a very traditional house producing fantastic Riesling and Pinot Noir. Another specialty of this place is a Moravian Muscat (here called MOPR), which is a grape variety of entirely Czech origin. The tour around this winery includes beautiful gothic wine cellars, an excursion to the winemaking process and a walk around the vineyards. After tasting local wines you can return back to Hotel PINOT or relax in one of Prague’s restaurants.
